Let our experienced staff of custom conservation framers create a stunning addition to your home or office decor. We use only the finest quality materials to make your antique ready-to-hand or ready-to give. Here is the process:
We start by conservation mounting your authentic antique using acid-free materials and non-reactive mylar strips (so your piece floats in it's mounting to allow for contraction and expansion). If you order an antique replica we dry mount your piece to an acid-free board (with acid-free mounting paper) to ensure it stays flat and wrinkle-free. Acid-free materials cost more, but help ensure that your art will last for generations.
To keep your work off of the glazing and provide a striking border around your replica, we custom cut double mats to fit each piece. We create mats with a full 3" border (many save money with narrower mat borders). Our special antiquarian mats are not just acid-free, they are the finest 100% cotton rag mats made. Again, these provide the ultimate protection against damaging acidity entering your art.
Then, we cover the piece with a museum-quality, ultraviolet-filtering, acrylic glazing. This almost unbreakable, ultra-clear glazing has UV filtering material within it that blocks 98% of the damaging ultraviolet rays that cause art to fade. Acrylic glazing also protects your family and your art from the dangers of shattered glass (should your framed piece ever get hit or dropped). This material if far more expensive (and much safer) than even conservation glass.
Our wood frames are the finest made. We have chosen some classic styles that complement these antique works or art. The frame mouldings are available in a variety of finishes to match almost any decor. These frames are carefully cut and assembled, by hand, to the exact dimensions of your custom matted piece.
Finally, we add some extra finishing touches that few framers offer. Each framed work is sealed with a special black paper (instead of the cheaper brown kraft paper) with an amazing new Kevlar® cord hanging system. This hanging cord is as strong as steel cable, but doesn't mar your walls (or stab your fingers).
The result is the finest custom frame available at a fraction of the price of most local frame shops (we have priced similar framing at much more). We guarantee you will be thrilled with your custom framed antique artwork!
